Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions & Answers
Clear answers about image formatting, compression standards, and privacy.
Why won't my HEIC photos open on Windows 10 or 11?
Apple devices take photos in HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) using the HEVC (H.265) video codec to save storage space. Windows does not include the HEVC codec by default, prompting users to buy an extension. Converting to JPG solves this instantly with zero software installation.
Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce photo quality?
Our decoder uses libheif with full 4:2:0 chroma reconstruction, ensuring fine textures, facial details, and color vibrancy are preserved without compression artifacts.
Are my personal private photos stored on your server?
Never. Files are processed in memory and written only to an ephemeral temporary directory that automatically purges every file after 24 hours. You can also click "Reset" to delete your batch immediately.
